Doctor's Diagnostic Questionson Diverticular Bleeding

Your doctor may ask these questions to check for this disease:

  • Do you have blood in your stool?

  • Have you been diagnosed with diverticula or diverticulitis?

  • Do you frequently feel the need to have a bowel movement but can't?

Treatmentof Diverticular Bleeding

This needs emergency medical care. To stop the bleeding, specialists may use a scope (camera) in the intestines to find the bleeding and seal it through burning or pressure. Other options include putting a wire through the bloodstream under X-ray guidance - this will find the blood vessel that is bleeding and plug it. Surgery is a final option for severe bleeding that does not respond to the above treatments.
