What is Hypopituitarism?
The pituitary gland, a part of the brain, controls hormone levels throughout the body. Hypopituitarism disrupts this control, causing hormone levels to drop and organ function to decrease. Causes include tumors, prior radiotherapy, infections, hereditary issues, unknown causes and brain trauma. The symptoms depend on which hormone is low and varies by person.
Typical Symptoms of Hypopituitarism
Seizure
Dry Mouth
Dizziness
Weakness in arms or legs
Inappropriate milk production e.g. not pregnant or with recent childbirth, or as a male
Hair loss
Poor peripheral vision
Blind spots or blind areas in vision
