What is Lichen Planus (Including Nails)?
Lichen planus is an inflammatory skin condition associated with irritation and itching. It occurs when the body's immunity reacts against its own mucous membranes, causing inflammatory reactions. Nail lichen planus destroys the nail bed and thins the nails. The cause of lichen planus is unknown, but possible causes include Hepatitis C infection of the liver, certain medicines, diabetes, heart disease, and malaria.
